There Was No Attack On PM's Convoy After All

“Prime Minister Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute’s Peace mission to the North West Region from Santa-Matazen to Bamenda was smooth and Peaceful contrary to social media reports.


He was welcomed at the entrance into the North West Region at Matazen by the population of Santa Subdivision on Tuesday

October 5, 2021, the Head of Government Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute while addressing and thanking the population for the warm reception given him, told them that his mission into the North West is for peace.


At the close of his message, gunshots emanating far-off the hills of Matazen were heard, the defense and security forces immediately retaliated, and within few minutes the situation was handled. There was no attack as reported on many platforms.


Images circulating online indicates that the gunshots were provoked by separatist fighters who were about 1.5 kilometers away from the gateway into the North West Region.


From Matazem, the convoy of the P.M drove smoothly into Bamenda, the highway was void of any disturbances. At mile I up-station, thousands cameout to receive the Prime Minister, same scenario was witness at Custom junction.


The city mayor stole the show at the governor's junction with praise and worship songs to the satisfaction of the Prime Minister and his entourage.

Here the PM with so much joy told the population of Bamenda that he came with a message of peace from the Head of state and that the Government is working hard for peace to return in the entire North West Region. From here the Prime Minister retired to Ayaba hotel were he granted audiences to different personalities and groups.” Bamend-based journalist covering PM’s peace-building mission recounts.
