Limbe I Mayor, Mbwaye Eposi clinches CENPA’s Best Female Mayor award

The Mayor of Limbe I Council, Mme Mbwaye Eposi Florence, has been named the winner of the 'Best Female Mayor' award for 2024. The pathfinder Mayor, Mbwaye Eposi, received this award on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Mountain Hotel during the 2nd edition of Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA). CENPA's annual awards seek to promote excellence in various fields of life.
This recognition is for her outstanding contributions to female leadership in President Biya's new decentralization vision through the provision of basic social amenities and promotion of social cohesion in the Limbe I Municipality.
After receiving her award, Mayor Eposi thanked CENPA and pledged to continue fostering social cohesion and development in Limbe I Municipality. “I am delighted this evening for this award from CENPA,
“When I received the message, I was curious about who these new people were that had come up with such a wonderful gesture”,
“I discovered they are all English Language Newspaper publishers. I am happy because I don’t know any of the people or the jury members.”
Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said.
President of the Cameroon English Newspapers Publishers and Publisher of the Guardian Post Newspaper, explained that the laureates were chosen based on their impact on society and were thoroughly screened by Barrister Christopher Tambe Tiku, President of the Jury, and Barrister Nkongho Agbor Felix, Secretary of the Jury.
“When you have a jury with someone like Christopher Tambe Tiku as President and Nkongho Agbor Felix as Secretary, you can be assured that the nominees were well-screened.
Kristian Ngah added that the jury’s rigorous process ensured that only deserving individuals received the awards.
The awards ceremony also recognised journalists in various categories, including Print Journalist of the Year, Best Radio Journalist, Best Radio Pidgin News Presenter, and Most Active and Dynamic Communication Officer. About 40 individuals from the media, civil society, managerial positions, traditional rulers, and politicians were recognised.
Brief Insight into CENPA’s Award
The CENPA Award, given by the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association, recognizes excellence in various fields. The ceremony, attended by high-profile personalities such as Senators, traditional authorities, and civil society leaders, honors excellence in media and public service.
