Limbe City Council is expected to plant 1000 frenzy plants at Mabeta New Layout landslide hill, in limbe I Subdivision and compensate those living around the expose area.
This information was revealed by the Limbe City council Director of Urban Planning and Housing, Casimir Lyonga Nyime on Thursday August 12, 2021. He said the objective of the integrated risk management is to mitigate and reduce the hazard of floating and landslide.
The frenzy plant, he said has a root of 4-5 meters beneath the soil stabilisation. He added that, they are already preparing a nursery to plant the frenzy plants.
“LCC technical team is on the field, identifying the number of people who are expose to the hazard. Those with land deed will be compensated.” Casimir Lyonga said.
It should be noted that, this same hill claimed over 6 lives on Wednesday June 27, 2001.
