Cameroonian football mourns Unisport du Haut-Nkam head coach

Cameroonian football family is mourning the death of Unisport du Haut-Nkam's head coach, Jeunie Merveill Nguegom, who reportedly passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at about 11:45pm after a bout of illness at Douala General Hospital.
The former Astres de Douala defender had joined his team Unisport for the play-offs in Douala.
According to report, he was physically weakened, he left the bench after the first few games to seek treatment.
Unfortunately, he will celebrate Unisport's potential rise to the first division from his hospital bed at Douala General Hospital.
Jeunie Merveil Nguegom had a notable coaching career, serving as head coach of Aigle Royal of Moungo during the 2021/2022 season, where he secured promotion to Elite Two for the first time in the club's 27-year history.
He later moved to Rangers of Bafut and then Union Sportive de Douala, before returning to Aigle Royal of Mungo and helping them gain promotion to Elite One.
He subsequently took the head coach position at Unisport of Bafang, achieving similar success and proving himself a master of the Elite Two championship.
The club, recently promoted to the first division, has not yet commented on this death.
