On Friday, February 28, 2025 Bishop Bibi was involved in a ghastly road accident where he was accompanied by his driver and a journalist while traveling to Yokadouma for the consecration of bishop Justin Ebengue.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle carrying Bishop Bibi, driver Emmanuel Che, and journalist Joseph Ottop, lost traction of the road and tumbled twice before regaining stability.

Miraculously, all occupants escaped with minor injuries. Despite the accident, Bishop Bibi and his companions continued to Yokadouma, where they attended the consecration Mass after a brief medical examination.

Following the ceremony, they proceeded to Yaoundé for further medical attention. Medical reports indicate that Bishop Bibi is experiencing chest and head pains, which are subsiding.

Meanwhile Ottop is nursing a neck injury, while driver Emmanuel Che escaped unscathed.

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, prompting an outpouring of prayers and well-wishes for the bishop and his companions.

“We are grateful to God for sparing their lives," said Rev. Michael Kengnojoh spokesperson for the diocese. "We continue to pray for their full recovery and for God's protection and guidance."

The consecration ceremony, which took place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, was attended by dignitaries and clergy from across the region.
