Limbe Paramount Chief organises cultural excursion for holiday class participants

Ahead of the closing ceremony of the Vernacular and computer training classes, the Limbe Paramount Chiefdom organised a one-day excursion for the children to the Bonjongo Chiefdom.

Upon arrival, the group was warmly received at the Palace by the Paramount Chief of Bonjongo court area Stephen Verkima Efesoa.

As part of the cultural tour, the participants also paid a visit to St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bonjongo.

The excursion, according to organizers, aimed to expose the children to their culture, traditions, and historical sites within the Limbe municipality.

The one-month free holiday Vernacular and Computer Training Classes began on July 7, 2026, and will end on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Old Presbyterian Church, Down Beach, Limbe.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, HRM Chief John Elufa Manga Williams said:

“What motivates us to do programs like this is first because we want to see the children groomed in the various dialects of vernacular that represent Limbe.

In modern society, there is the tendency for these children to grow up speaking only English and French without really identifying themselves as people coming from our local villages.

So we think that after these holiday classes, we have the responsibility to make them understand where they are coming from and instruct them in these vernacular languages, and also in other aspects of culture,” he explained.

The closing ceremony of the classes is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026.
