Yaoundé: Father of Cameroonian musician Lydol arrested for allegedly stabbing 6-Year-old

The City of Yaounde, particularly the Ngoa Ekelle neighborhood in Yaounde III Subdivision, is still in shock and consternation following the arrest of a renowned Cameroonian musician father’s Lydol for allegedly stabbing a 6-years-boy whose only name we got as Mathias to death.

According to report KNews gathered, the incident followed a physical altercation between Lydol’s father and the child’s father. In a shocking and horrific act of revenge, he is reported to have revenge his anger on the innocent child, resulting in the child’s death.

KNews later learned, the victim was rushed to Yaounde Military Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. An eyewitness who preferred not to be named said military officers were alerted by the population who appeared promptly at the scene and arrested Lydol’s father.

KNews gathered that authorities are currently investigating Lydol's father for a separate murder that reportedly occurred just a week prior, marking this as potentially his second violent crime within a fortnight.

At press time investigation is ongoing, and many are calling for justice for the innocent child whose life was tragically cut short. 

Lydol reacts, postpones concert 

Following the sad incident of the death of 6-years-old Mathias. Cameroonian artist Lydol felt broken in an emotional video circulating on social media, reacting to the tragic incident alleged committed by her father.

Emotionally broken, she announced the postponement of her upcoming concert. “I can’t continue performing while such pain is coming from my family.”Lydol stated.

She expressed sincere condolences to Mathias’s family and firmly condemned the alleged act and called on the public to speak up, seek justice and protect children across communities.
