West Region: Catholic Church promotes learning in Bamendjou

The pupils of St. Joseph Calasanz Catholic Primary School Batcham of Bamboutos Division of the West Region of Camerooon have received two buildings comprising of five modern classrooms from the Catholic Church. This gesture was made on Saturday October 23, 2021.


According to father Evaristus Akem, the provincial superior of the Piarist Fathers in the province of Central Africa, the said gesture is to facilitate the work of education that they are carrying out on the subdivision of Bamendjou.


The children needed not only a clean environment for studying, but also, a dignify structure was essential. "We have constructed seven schools in Bamendjou, this is the last one. We have left a mark with beautiful structure to facilitate the work of education. We intend to go further, it may not be in Bamendjou but in other places." Father Akem explained.


Present at the occasion was the Divisional Officer of Bamendjou, Ndagoulloh Marigoh Elvis Landry, who said; we want to thank the Catholic Education for Bamendjou Subdivision, specifically the Catholic Calasanz Primary School Batchoum for handing over this newly constructed flamboyant two block building of five classes. We are inviting the learners to make use of the learning facilities judiciously.


"The kind gestures from the Prieress Community, once more shows the interest of the Catholic Church in the educational sector of our country. The Catholic Church has always supported the state be it in the health, education and social domain. Father Akem explained.


Present at the inauguration, were also parents who believe this gesture will provide spiritual and academic foundation on which their children will be empowered to make a positive difference in school, the Batcham community and the world at large.


Father Akem expresses gratitude "I want to extend my gratitude to the people of Batcham who never hesitated to offer a space for the action of the cute building."


He added "I want to thank persons of good will who contributed immensely for the learning facilities.

Father Akem invited the learners to handle the gifts diligently. Reason being that, they had to put their hands together to nurture the kids who are the future of tomorrow.

The Mayor of Bamendjou, Xavier Takam, said; We want to thank the entire Piarist Community and superior for the kind heartedness of the structure, and count on the support of the local population in handling the gifts.

We are inviting the Batchoum Community entirely to awaken from their slumber to invest much on the education of their kids."

Going by the above gesture from the Catholic church, one can affirm that, they see Education as a great investment and a good weapon anyone can use to change the world.

Father Akem and the Catholic Community will do all it takes to lighten the path of these children and others.

It is worth noting that the Catholic Church is indeed doing a grate job for the Cameroonian population going by their, health, education and moral gestures they keep exhibiting
