The National President of Cameroon Association of Media Professionals, CAMP Solomon Agborem says his team is 95% ready for tomorrow’s Annual General Assembly, AGM billed for Friday August 20- 22, 2021 in Limbe.
‘I think that we are 95% ready as we wait on the delegates and guests to arrive tomorrow Friday. CAMP is over 15 years of existence which will be making our 16th Annual General Meeting. We equally have 50 regional delegates over the regions of Cameroon. It will be an opportunity for media practioners to look at the way forward for the organisation and also professionalism which is the core.’ Solomon Agborem said.
He added that they are working together with diplomatic missions to have diplomatic cover considering that, journalism practice in Cameroon is faced with many difficulties.
The aim of this meeting is to push the journalism practice to another level which will be a time for exchange of ideas and to combat against hate speech.
‘We think that many conflicts and violence in Cameroon particular and in sub central Africa regions is seen as a result of hate speech and violence, that were not properly managed at their early stage. In collaboration with other organisations we strongly believe we will mitigate hate speech in our communities so it is an AGM not to missed’ Solomon Agborem explained.
Quizzed on the level of security put in placed to protect the delegates and journalists he said, they have put in place all the necessary security measures to protect the delegates and guests.
Agborem urge the delegates to remain professional to show proof to the government how they are contributing to nation building and also building journalism.
