VIIMMA Awards: Dr Desmond Oben crowned Humanitarian Actor Of The Year

The Founder and CEO of Mother Gladys Medical Foundation, Dr Oben Desmond, has been declared the 2025 Humanitarian Actor of The Year by the Victoria International Media Merits Award.

The prestigious award was pinned on him on Friday December 12, 2025 in Limbe in recognition for his passion and selfless efforts to the deprived and underprivileged, especially in Cameroon's crisis hit English-Speaking regions.

Dr Oben is known for supporting education, offering scholarships, and sending underprivileged kids back to school.

Expressing his gratitude after receiving the honour, Dr Oben expressed gratitude to God for life and his accomplishments.

"This award inspires me to dream up new ways to help lift people up," he said.

He encouraged other well-meaning Cameroonians to give more to the needy in the society in order to alleviate poverty in this critical period.

The reproductive and fertility medicine expert dedicated the award to his father, Oben Tanyi Michael, as his guidance and support have been invaluable on this journey.

Dr. Oben didn't forget all the staff of Mother Gladys Medical Foundation both old and current who have worked tirelessly alongside him, with whom, he says this, this achievement wouldn't have been possible.

Administrator Besong Pauline extolled the virtues of Dr. Oben, describing him as a reputable man with love for humanity expressed through his philanthropic gestures.
