VICTORIA Club Election: A Clash of Titans?

Over 150 members of the prestigious Victoria Club shall go to the poll to elect a new Executive arm of the club come April 10,2026.


As the days turn into hours, two vibrant members have declared their intentions to run for the Club's top job.


Going by renowned writer, Sydney J. Harris, " Democracy is the only system that persists in asking the powers that be whether they are the powers that ought to be". In this case, who are the candidates?


Dr.Joki Manga


Dr. Joki, has over two decades experience in the Maritime/Oil & Gas Operations, he holds a BSc Hons from Solent University Southampton,

An MSc Oil & Gas Operations Management, University of Central Lancashire (Uclan),

Chartered Certification Logistics and Transport (Institute of Logistics and Transport UK.

Occupational Health Safety certification from OSHA . He is a Doctor in Organizational Leadership with expertise in Maritime Operations from Houston Texas.


Achievements


Dr. Joki Manga is one of the first Cameroonian to have navigated and sailed a Tugboat of 500GT from Hamburg- Germany to Limbe Cape Limboh, planning the chart for the voyage from Europe to Africa.He currently manages the Jetty maintenance contract of the Sonara Oil Terminal.


Out of the ocean front, he gives curriculum advice to secondary schools like Sasse, Dewey international school Douala on Maritime Operations bringing young people to get knowledge of the industry as a passion to ensure continuity.


He was the President of Organising Commitee for the coronation of of the Chief of Bonabile-Bimbia which was very successful. He is also the Chairman of the Bonabile Traditional Council, former global Vice president General of Soba Europe, presently technical adviser to the President General.


He is transforming the Maritime transport sector of his village Bonabile combo which includes five Combo's belonging to Bonabile Village. Dr. Joki, is also a trainer of Marine Engineers.


On the other hand, Mayor Nseke Dibotti Luma is a Cameroonian politician serving as the Mayor of Limbe III Subdivisional Council. An accomplished legal luminary, practicing Barrister at Law and a team player.


Barrister Nseke started his academic pursuit at the Roman Catholic Mission NewTown and later St Mary's School Tiko.


He later attended Secondary

Bilingual Grammar School Molyko- Buea,

Hope waddel Training Institution Calabar-Nigeria.

He got enrolled into the prestigious Institute of Public Policy and Administration

University of Calabar.


He returned to Cameroon and later obtained a Degree in Law and Political Sciences from the

University of Dschang,including a Masters Degree in Local Governance from thesame

University.


Mayor Barrister Nseke is widely traveled. He is married and a father of many children.

He was elected Mayor of the Limbe III Subdivisional Council in 2014. He took over with a vision to develop Limbe III through community-driven projects.


Some of his notable achievements include:

- Infrastructure Development: Rehabilitation of government schools, health centers, and roads, including the Bimbia to Man O' War Bay road

- Economic Growth: Supporting local farmers, equipping agricultural posts, and promoting tourism

- Community Engagement: Donating didactic materials to schools, organizing budget orientation debates, and collaborating with local media to combat fake news


-Awards and Recognition: Appointed Notable in the Limbe Paramount Chiefdom in 2025.

Without being exhaustive, both aspirants are revered Titans and experts in their spheres of influence.


The choice is now on Victoria Club members to decide who takes the command baton from former president Barrister Valentine Forchak, under whose reign Victoria Club saw several renovations and innovations in his style of leadership.
