Shareholders of Victoria Customs Cooperative Credit Union, LTD VCCCUL, on Saturday February 22, 2025 held their 2024 Annual General Meeting, AGM at their Head Quarter at Bota, Limbe and celebrated 50th anniversary of the existence of VCCCUL LTD.
The president of the Board of Directors of VCCCUL Melo Henry says they intends to plant more branches of VCCCUL in all 10 regions of the country as they celebrated their 50th to be leader in the micro-finance industry in Cameroon.
This is one among the resolutions taken during the 2024 AGM. He added that from 22 members to 12314 members the Credit Union has drastically improved in all domains as reports from all committees proved satisfactory.
Speaking during the event, the Youth Committee Chairman, Adolf Tabot-Asa Tambe said a lot has achieved in the field of awareness creation and registration of members.
He plead with management to provide reliable information on how foreigners can use their resident permits to open accounts and carry out daily savings in Idenau.
Adolf Tabot also plead with management to employ more collectors for daily collection to boost their collection record.
He revealed that this year, they intends to fine-tune strategies to link up members abroad, code maned “VCCCUL Njoka” to facilitate saving Ma regularly while abroad.
On her part, the chairlady of Women committee, Immaculate Mah said they registered 24 new daily savers and recorded 32 new accounts unlike last year which recorded just few accounts.
She cited some challenges which are; lack of training which could fish out more women, difficulty to find grounds for discussion as competition gets tougher.
The supervisory report presented by the chairlady Wundung Philomonia said the union membership is 12314 showing an increase of 995 new members
She explained that VCCCUL has 9 branches in Cameroon as of now but she is optimistic that more branches will be created in the days ahead.m
Wundung Philomonia said 1647 loans were granted in the period under review. “The sociopolitical crisis plaguing the Anglophone regions and VCCCUL Yaounde branch promoted us to be vigilant in granting loans” She added.
She encouraged the women’s committee to keep keeping up the sensitization. Wundung opined that the youths and the women scored far above the average as most of their goals were achieved.
On his part, the President General of VCCCUL, Melo Henry used the occasion to appeal to VCCUL Credit Union members to always respect their financial engagement and to pay back their loans and interest on loan on time to keep the business afloat.
VCCCUL General Manager, Emanga Christable was applauded for her innovative team spirit which has completely changed the account reading the institution from red to blue.
