The Minister of Trade, Luc-Magloire Mbarga Atangana has urged the Director General of the Agency for Standards and Quality (ANOR),Chantal Andely née Ndomo Ndongo to ensure that the popular Booster Whisky Cola product meets the required standards.
He made this clarion call on Tuesday March 4, 2025 through a communique address to the Director General of ANOR.
This comes after the President of the National Consumer Protection Network (RNC) forwarded a document containing the results of physicochemical and microbiological analyses conducted by the Centre Technique Agroalimentaire du Cameroun (CTA-CAM).
The analyses were prompted by consumer complaints about the product, which is marketed by the Société des Boissons du Cameroun (SABC).
The RNC is calling on ANOR to verify the product's conformity to existing standards and to withdraw the product from the market if it fails to meet these standards.
This move is seen as a significant step towards protecting consumer rights and ensuring that products sold in Cameroon meet the required safety and quality standards.
The ANOR is expected to take prompt action on the matter, given the potential health risks associated with consuming substandard products.
