The Chief of Monde Village, HRM Kwami Beckley Nangoh III, has debunked reports linking the deaths of two people killed along CDC palms road to a land transaction in Monde village, saying the victims were only passing through the village.

In a press release dated Sunday, July 5, 2026 and signed by the traditional ruler, he addressed the tragic incident that occurred around CDC Palms Estate and resulted in the death of two persons, with others wounded.

What the palace says happened

According to the statement, the deceased were traveling to Wonganjo wo Njoh for a real estate transaction with an agent identified as Fongoh Valentine

“While entering Monde village, they were advised by some Monde youths and security forces stationed in Monde Village that the roads were not good and places were not safe due to security challenges in recent times,”

“After they adhered to the advice, a few minutes later, gunshots were heard around the CDC Palms Estate, and the unfortunate incident was recorded. They were attacked by unidentified armed men. The release stated.

The Palace extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace.

Denial of land transaction in Monde

HRM Kwami Beckley said he is issuing this statement to correct false reports currently circulating regarding the circumstances of their deaths.

“Contrary to the rumor that the individuals were on their way to Monde village for a land transaction, we state categorically that there was no land transaction scheduled or taking place in Monde Village involving the deceased,”

“The people of Monde village have no knowledge of, nor involvement in, any land deal connected to the deceased.” the communique stated.

HRM Kwami Beckley urged the public and media to disregard reports suggesting otherwise, noting that “such misinformation only adds to the pain of the bereaved families and creates unnecessary tension in our community.”

Call for peace

HRM Kwami Beckley said Monde village will continue to cooperate with relevant authorities and prayed for an end to insecurity in the region. “Once again, we mourn with the families who have lost their loved ones. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Chief Nangoh III stated.
