The former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba, has been conferred with the Akwaya traditional title of 'Nfor Nenop' of Akwaya, which translates to "King of the Sun of Akwaya."

The recognition ceremony took place at the Limbe Wildlife Centre in Limbe I Subdivision on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

During the event, the President of the Akwaya Traditional Council, HRM Otu Ojong Asu Jean, stated that the chiefs and elites of Akwaya decided to confer the title on Dr. Fonki Samuel in recognition of his immense contributions to Akwaya, his village, and humanity as a whole.

"This is an illustrious son who has done much for his people and continues to do so," HRM Otu Ojong said. "By recognising and honoring him today, we are simply returning to him what he has given us and encouraging him to do more for the Akwaya Subdivision."

HRM Otu Ojong added that Dr. Fonki Samuel demonstrated remarkable leadership and courage, particularly during an evaluation meeting at the Prime Minister's office on March 18, 2025, where he stood tall for the Subdivision despite the risks involved.

It is worth noting that Dr. Fonki Samuel was recognized alongside business guru Ashu Beckline Ndoh, who was conferred with the title of 'Ekieni Mfua,' meaning "Chief's Messenger."

In his response, Dr. Fonki Samuel expressed his gratitude and humility, saying, "I am richly blessed and honored that the royal fathers of Akwaya can recognise me as a son of the soil and acknowledge my work not only in Akwaya but also around Cameroon and beyond as a Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon."

He added that he prayed for the royal blessings to continue enabling him to serve his people and the nation.
