The Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam says South West Region will receive approximately FCFA 8 billion in funding by 2027.

He disclosed this information recently in Buea during the signing of a memorandum of understanding  between the President of the South West Regional Assembly and the Coordinator of the Local Governance and Resilient Communities Project (Prolog).

The region is expected to receive subsidies totaling about FCFA 3 billion in 2026, contingent on the performance of the regional executive. An additional 1.5 billion CFA francs is planned for 2027.

Municipal Funding

Municipalities in the South West Region are projected to receive FCFA 2.6 billion in financial support this year as part of a broader program benefiting 70 municipalities nationwide.

The project also encompasses equipping medical imaging centers at Mamfe District Hospital (Manyu Division) and Kumba Regional Hospital's annex (Meme Division), alongside constructing an eight-classroom block with offices and toilets at Government High School (GHS) Limbe.
