SONARA GM receives VIIMMA 2025 assiduity in management award

The Director General of SONARA, El Hadj Harouna Bako, has been awarded the VIIMMA 2025 Assiduity in Management Award for his exceptional leadership in steering the company towards recovery after a devastating fire incident in 2019.
The award was presented by the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP) on January 16, 2026, in SONARA boardroom was headed by an 8 member delegation from CAMP led by its Executive Director, Tarhyang Enowbika Tabe, and its President, Solomon Agborem, bestowed the recognition on the senior official.
The award recognizes GM Harouna's efforts in driving the PARRAS 24 initiative, launched in 2025, which aims to fully resume processing by 2027.
His management ingenuity and the company's open-door communication policy have been praised by stakeholders, including grassroots politicians in Fako Division.
SONARA, Cameroon's National Refining Company, is on track to full recovery, with the reconstruction and rehabilitation project progressing satisfactorily.
GM Harouna expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to seeing the company emerge stronger.
