Silicon Mountain decries unbalance flow of internet service in SW

Buea-based technology community, Silicon Mountain has decried unbalance flow of internet connection in the South West Region. This was revealed during a 5 days conference tagged “The Showcase” which started on Tuesday November 9- 13, 2021 in Buea.


It was revealed that, some of the limitations they face is, unbalance flow of the internet service, creating public awareness and financing especially for start-ups, which they lament is a major challenge to their growth.


The conference was aimed at displaying the rich technology prowess Silicon mountain has and promoting technology in all it forms. Brought together a group of ICT driven individuals and companies providing technological solution to social problem held a press conference to showcase their products and services to the population of Fako, South West and Cameroon in general.


The press conference which brought media men and women of the towns of Buea and Limbe. In a question and answer section, that lasted over two hours about the echo system. Chaired by some elite members( Laye Mbunkur, Ferdinand, Otto Beseka an Mambe Nanje Churchill) of the hub who marked present to answer questions commonly raise by the society about the hub.


Silicon Mountain is the largest tech community in Cameroon and this year's conference aims at showcasing what the community members have been building and creating more awareness to general public about how tech can be the change everyone is looking forward to as economic power house.

"We are not an organisation nor company but rather an ecosystem which brings together people of common interest" Laye Mbunkur, Explained.

A Panel discussions encouraging participants to join tech communities to learn from peers and get hands-on skills they may not acquire from school.

Maybe Nanje Churchill CEO of Njorku said;

"We are open for more idea and ready to welcome new members anytime any day and you don’t need any formal application".


Similar conference was held last in 2018 and so this was an opportunity to revive the hub from collapsing. It should be noted that the future of tech in Cameroon and Africa is in good hands and with a little push from the media and population all can live in a simple and stress world.
