Prelude to the close of financial year: Limbe I Council receives second low-cost house

Barely few weeks to the close of this year’s 2025 financial year in Cameroon, Limbe I Council headed by Mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, received second low cost house from the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development.


Speaking during the brief inaugural event at Busumbu quarter in Limbe I Subdivision, Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said each year the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development allocate FCFA 100 million to all Councils in Cameroon.


“For us in Limbe I, we decided to use the FCFA 100 million to construct low cost houses. So, the first one that we constructed last year have been taken by workers of the Limbe I Council and even this one we just received. This will prevent the embarrassment of our workers for house rent.” Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said.


She added that Limbe I Council will continue to erect such structures every year so far the Ministry of Decentralisation continue to provide the funds.


Mayor Mbwaye Eposi explained that this is the second low cost housing they are receiving comprising of 4 apartments while last year was 8 apartments.


She added that the Minster of Decentralisation and Local Development wants Limbe I Council workers be well comfortable reason why the funds are allocated. Mayor Mbwaye pleaded with the Ministry to redouble the funds from FCFA 100 million to FCFA 200 or 300 million.


She thanked the Government for the funds, Divisional Delegate of Housing and Urban Development, the constructor, Divisional Delegate of Decentralisation for their support to realise the structures.


In her intervention, the Divisional Delegate for Housing and Urban Development, Ngangsi Regina said the previous low-cost housing was just simple rooms and parlor studios but this year Mayor Mbwaye deemed it necessary to build two bathroom apartment from PIB funds. She congratulated the constructors for executing the project on time.


On his part, the Divisional Delegate of Decentralisation and Local Development for Fako Naseri Julius said, “I want to give Mayor Mbwaye Eposi a big congratulations for putting the funds allocated for her in use”,


“I’m going back with a positive report that the project was well executed in line with the norms as prescribed on the terms of reference.”


He appreciated the stakeholders of the chain of the project for doing a fabulous job in respecting the time frame of the project.


“Limbe I Council has been an exemplary Council when it comes to good governance, accountability and transparency with Mayor Mbwaye Eposi at the helm.” Nsweri Julius said.


The operating officer for Chimal construction Sarl and Est Kimi, Elija Ale said they started the structure in May and by August the structure was ready though needed some finishing touches. He plead with the Government to make ready the funds to easy their job.
