The Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) is pushing forward with its planned activities in Eseka from March 27 to 29, 2025, despite a ban from the local administrative authority.
The party's chief spokesperson, Christian Ndjock Nkongo, has confirmed to KNews that the events will proceed as scheduled.
The ban, issued by Eseka's sub-prefect Aurélien Bamdja Djoh, cites the "dual leadership" within the party as a threat to public order.
At the heart of the issue is a leadership dispute between Cabral Libii, the party's president since 2019, and Robert Kona, one of the party's founders.
Kona has contested Libii's legitimacy since December 2023, but two court rulings in May and November 2024 have upheld Libii's position. Despite these rulings, the Ministry of Territorial Administration continues to restrict PCRN events.
In February, the governor of the Adamaoua region halted PCRN meetings in the region, prompting the party to convene an emergency meeting and establish a legal team to challenge these measures.
The planned events in Eseka include the launch of Cabral Libii's policy book, a strategic meeting, and a parliamentary tour.
