In a communique signed on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 by its National President, Anicet Georges Ekane, the African Movement for New Independence and Democracy (MANIDEM) vigorously denounced the military occupation of its headquarters located at the TIF crossroads in Akwa, Douala.

MANIDEM is protesting the prolonged presence of security forces around its headquarters in Akwa, Douala. The party is decrying political persecution and is demanding the immediate lifting of the security measures.

According to the communique, gendarmes and police officers invaded the premises on Saturday, July 26, blocking all access to the party headquarters without presenting a warrant or mission order.

Since then, police have reportedly remained stationed in front of the building, preventing journalists, activists, and visitors from freely accessing into the building.

Anicet George Ekane denounced political persecution and called on the relevant authorities to immediately lift the siege. It should be noted that MANIDEM had nominated Maurice Kamto as its candidate for the presidential election of October 12, 2025.
