In a press release published on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, by the Interim National Coordinator of Political Alliance for Change (APC), Hon. Jean Michel Nintcheu, Prof. Maurice Kamto is now the official candidate for APC party and no more MANIDEM party.

The party denied any ongoing negotiations for a so-called "consensual" candidate, stating that neither Kamgo or APC have engaged in discussions with any other candidates. The party reaffirmed  it commitment to Kamto's candidacy.

“The Political Alliance for Change (APC) and its candidate, Professor Maurice Kamto, wish to inform the national and international public opinion that no individual, structure, or group has been mandated by the APC or its candidate to engage in discussions or negotiations on their behalf within the framework of a possible designation of a so-called “consensus” candidate.” the communique stated.

Faced with the proliferation of uncoordinated initiatives, they reiterate their commitment to democratic principles and transparency.

It should be noted that since the release of the first press release from the MANIDEM president, several individual opinions have been circulated in the public space, suggesting that the APC and its candidate would be involved or would tacitly support a possible consensual designation of a single candidate.

The APC initially chose not to react publicly, out of "republican courtesy" and concern to avoid "any unnecessary controversy" in an already tense political context.

However, given the persistence of these maneuvers, sometimes described as fraudulent, and the proliferation of statements likely to mislead public opinion, the APC deemed it necessary to clarify its position.

The APC and its candidate reaffirm their commitment to democratic principles of inclusive, transparent approaches that respect the general interest, while remaining vigilant regarding developments in the Cameroonian political scene.
