The Prime and Head of Government Joseph Dion Ngute on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Buea rallied CPDM South West for Biya’s landslide victory during the launch of the regional campaign.
According to Dion Ngute, the region will cease to benefit from the privileges and development advances it currently enjoys if Biya does not win the presidential election on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
He pointed out that the region is currently strongly represented in the government and in elective assemblies such as the National Assembly and the Senate, as well as in development projects such as the Kumba gas plant, "a proof of Biya's commitment to the growth of the South West Region.”
“Politics is a game of interests, and President Biya has the interest of the South West Region at heart, " the head of government. Dion Ngute firmly rejected claims that the National Oil Refinery, SONARA, is being relocated he argued.
He said the very fact that construction work has begun on parts of the refinery that caught fire in 2019 is proof that it remains a regional asset. He also promised that further development efforts are underway.
Dion Ngute added that plans to launch work had been intensified, as well as the construction of the Bekoko-Idenau road and the development of Tiko Airport. "If someone other than Biya is elected, the consequences for the South West Region would be disastrous,"he warned.
Responding to comments that the Head of State, the CPDM's natural candidate, was no longer fit to govern due to his age and related health problems, the Prime Minister said such claims were unreasonable.
"You who are cocoa farmers, do you cut down a cocoa tree because it is old? " asked Dion Ngute, prompting chants of "No! No!" He told CPDM supporters and sympathisers.
For his part, the Acting Regional Delegate of the CPDM Permanent Delegation of the South West, Senator Nfor Tabetando, said it was time for the people of the South West to honor the many motions of support they had sent to the Head of State, calling on him to run for the presidency.
Senator Tabetando said the Paul Biya had played his part by responding to their call; thus, the ball is now in their court to ensure he enjoys a landslide victory on election day.
The Senator told CPDM elites and campaign committee members to leave no stone unturned to ensure they take Biya's New Deal message to every household in the region. Senator Tabetando warned party members against complacency.
"The Southwest is a CPDM stronghold, but we must not rest on our laurels," he said, adding, "no two elections are the same." His message echoed the central pillar of the party's campaign strategy novelty.
According to the campaign plan presented by Prof. Elvis Ngole Ngole, Director of the CPDM Academy, social media would be a major component of the party's strategy as it seeks to win over young voters.
In his manifesto, Biya promised that if he won the October 12 elections, the following seven years would be specifically dedicated to youth and women. Insiders say his campaign seek to underscore this promise.
Party members say the campaign was designed to be inclusive and adopt a grassroots approach, with a priority door-to-door strategy.
It should be noted that today, Sunday, September 28, CPDM will launch Divisional campaign in Tiko Council beginning 1pm prompt according to a communique KNews procure.
