In a correspondence dated Tuesday, September 16, the Secretary General of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) of the Central Committee, nullified a decision made by Senator Nicole Okalia Bilai

Nkuete, who also serves as the head of the national campaign commission, wrote that the measures Bilaï took "without prior authorisation from the hierarchy are cancelled."

According to report the dispute centers on the appointment of Mveimani Sombo Amba on September 3, Nkuete had appointed Amba, a treasury inspector and a Chief in Sanaga Division, to lead the party's communal campaign commission in Ngoro in the Center region.

KNews gathered that on Monday, September 15, Senator Bilaï issued a statement overriding Nkuete’s decision, replacing Amba with Philippe Biongolo Mpegna, an accountant and local CPDM section president.

Senator Bilaï justified her action by claiming she was acting "under the authorisation and powers given to her by the high authorities of the party." Nkuete's correspondence formally challenged that claim, stating that no such authorisation was ever granted.

He however, declared that "Mveimani Sombo Amba, president of the CPDM communal campaign commission in Ngoro, is in full possession of his duties and will continue his work." This public rebuke exposes deeper rifts among the party's elite ahead of the October 12 presidential election.

The incident in Mbam and Kim illustrates the intensifying rivalries within the CPDM as the presidential and regional elections approach. As President Paul Biya seeks another term, the struggle for key positions and nominations is exacerbating existing divisions.

These power plays are transforming campaign organisational appointments into a means of settling political scores, with each nomination becoming a test of influence.

In this contest of alliances and disavowals, Nkuete's terse memo is not just a reminder of party discipline; it is a clear signal to anyone tempted to defy the central leadership.
