The National Communication Council (NCC) boss Joseph Chebonkeng has lamented on the imbalance in the treatment of information in favour of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement.

He made this remarks during a press conference on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in Yaounde.

Joseph Chebonkeng observed that the activities of political parties, particularly the CPDM, had taken precedence over the treatment of other information of interest to the public.

This observation by the National Communication Council comes after a week of electoral campaigning in the run-up to the presidential election on October 12, 2025.

To support his argument, Joseph Chebonkeng noted that in a sample of 31 newspapers evaluated by the CNC, all of the content was about the CPDM.

The media watchdog also noted the repeated broadcast of candidate Paul Biya's spot by Dash TV, without equivalent treatment for other candidates.

Furthermore, the CNC denounced the live broadcast on September 27 on Canal 2 of a meeting of the CPDM in western Cameroon.

Joseph Chebonkeng recalled his decision of August 27, 2025, banning political debates during the election campaign. This measure remains in effect despite its violation through the broadcasting of political programs in certain media.

The CNC boss points out that political debates must, during these election campaigns, give way to political propaganda conducted by candidates and their representatives.
