Barely 72 hours left for this year’s presidential election in Cameroon, Muslim community will today, Thursday October 9, 2025, observe a day of fasting and prayers as the country gears up for its presidential election slated for Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The Council of Imams and Muslim Dignitaries of Cameroon (CIDIMUC) has urged Muslims nationwide to fast and pray for peace and stability in the country.
According to the communique signed by the Coordinator of Council of Imams and Muslim Dignitaries of Cameroon (CIDIMUC), Dr. Moussa Oumarou th prayer and fasting is part of the preparation for the presidential election on October 12, in which incumbent President Paul Biya is a candidate is facing 11 challengers.
The press release from the Council of Imams and Muslim Dignitaries of Cameroon (CIDIMUC) stated,
“On the eve of the Presidential Election of October 12, 2025, the Council of Imams and Muslim Dignitaries of Cameroon (CIDIMUC) invites Imams throughout the national territory to; raise awareness among the faithful about the need to observe a day of fasting on Thursday, October 9, 2025, for the smooth running of the Presidential Election, deliver a sermon harmonised around the need to preserve and promote peace and stability at all times and in all places; Intensify prayers for peace and stability. CIDIMUC prays that Almighty Allah protects our country, Cameroon”.
