Nigeria’s Imo State indigenes resident in Limbe to construct secretariat worth FCFA 80 million

The Imo State Union of Nigeria in Limbe is expected to construct a secretariat worth FCFA 80 million in Limbe.


This was revealed by the Union’s, president Anthony Onyekwere on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church Hall during a fundraising of the magnificent edifice under the patronage of Paramount Chief of Ndi Igbo Eze Gburu Gburu


Speaking during the first phase fundraiser, Onyekwere said they invited friends and well-wishers to come and assist them raise funds for the construction of a multipur-pose secretariat in Limbe.


“It should be noted that as a friend, brother and sister state to Imo State Union, this project cannot be realised without your support.


“In this light we are calling on everybody here, not to relent in their support to the Imo State Union for the realisation of this great projection.” Onyekwere said.


He explained that financial constraint is the major concern of their wellbeing. Quizzed if it is linked to the ongoing crisis, he admitted that the crisis in the North West and South West regions has crippled business activities in the two English-speaking Regions.


Onyekwere urged his peers to emulate Limbe Imo State initiative. He however urged the incoming president who will take over office in 2024 to continue with this vision.


“Around the year 2016, when I and my executive assumed office, we discovered that there was a need of a permanent structure to house our meeting and other important events.


A lot of money was always spent renting halls during our meetings which did not give a healthy financial status of our members.” Onyekwere explained.

said with regards to fundraising, they already planned about it and with the help of God they will continue to focus and carry it ahead.


He added that they are allowing such legacy to their followers to emulate such gesture. He opined that they are doing such move in Limbe instead of their own country to make the public to know that Nigeria and Cameroon are one.


Chief, Ohaekelem is optimistic that before a year’s time, the construction might have been completed.
