MTN Cameroon partnered with Marguerita Holistic Health Center (M2HC) for free health campaign under Y’ello Care.
The Over 1500 residents of Limbe and its environs benefited from a unique blend of medical and psychosocial services during a two-day Free Holistic Health Campaign organised by the Marguerita Holistic Health Centre (M2HC) in partnership with MTN Cameroon, ASCOVIME and the Royal Chiefdom of Limbe.
The campaign held at the State Registered Nursing School, Mille One, Limbe Regional Hospital, sought to promote a comprehensive approach to healthcare by addressing not only physical ailments but also emotional, mental and social well-being. The first day of the campaign focused on mental health and psychosocial support.
Activities included awareness sessions on holistic health, prevention and education on mental health issues, resilience and social cohesion programmes, individual counselling sessions and psychosocial support orientation and referrals.
Educational talks and thematic work- shops targeted different categories of participants, including young mothers, older persons, young people with special needs and men.
Participants also received donations including rice, mosquito bed nets, sanitary pads, soap and other essential items, particularly benefiting vulnerable groups within the community.
Speaking during the launch, the President and Founding Director of Marguerita Holistic Health Centre, Marguerita Enow, said the initiative was inspired by the conviction that health extends beyond the treatment of physical illnesses.
"When we talk about health, we often think about what can be seen and treated in hospi- tals. Yet there are invisible wounds such as trauma, anxiety, fear and emo- tional suffering that profoundly affect the quality of our lives," she said.
According to her, the campaign adopted a holistic approach that considers the human being as a whole by placing emphasis on mental, emotional and psychosocial well-being alongside medical care.
She stressed that lasting healing cannot be achieved by treating the body alone while neglecting the mind, emotions and human relationships.
Encouraged by the overwhelming turnout, the Founding President announced plans to establish a branch of Marguerita Holistic Health Centre in Limbe to ensure sustained psychosocial support and follow-up services for residents.
On her part, the representative of MTN Cameroon, Rachel Nduma said MTN Cameroon under Y’ello Care decided to support the initiative of free health and treatment to the needy population of Limbe.
She explained that Y’ello Care is a voluntary part of MTN Cameroon. “We contribute money and our partners also assist us so that we support the community in what they need. We have been doing this for several” Rachel Nduma said.
She revealed that they have built schools, pipe borne water and handed to some communities in Cameroon. This year Y’ello Care which runs from June 1-21 they decided to support the community with medication and free treatment.
