Moungo: Pickup drowned in river kills four, leaves one injured

The population of Ebone, Nlonako Subdivision, Moungo Division Littoral region are still in shock and consternation following a tragic incident that claimed four lives and left one injured.
According to report the incident happened on the night of Thursday, September 18, into Friday, September 19 when a pickup truck carrying five individuals stumbled into a river after the bridge they were crossing collapsed around 11 pm.
KNews gathered that the group was returning home after participating in a contact tour with the Divisional Officer of Nlonako.
Trapped inside the vehicle and with no immediate help available, four of the five occupants, including three women and one man, drowned. Only the driver managed to escape from the vehicle and return to the riverbank safely.
KNews later learned it was only in the morning of Friday, September 19, that the lifeless bodies of the victims were recovered by local residents, with the support of local authorities and forensic pathologists.
They were then taken to Manjo District Hospital mortuary in an atmosphere of great emotion and consternation.
At press time investigation have been launched by Manjo gendarmerie brigade to determine the exact cause of the bridge collapse.
The victims identities have not yet been officially announced, however, are known to be resident of Manjo vicinity.
