The Chief of Monde, Kwami Beckley Nangoh, has reassured residents of Monde village in Buea Subdivision of his commitment to maintaining peace and order, while issuing a stern warning against the rising use of illicit drugs.

He made the remarks while addressing the Association groups of Monde village during a meeting on Monday, June 15, 2026.

The Chief said security forces remain on high alert to protect lives and property across all communities. He urged inhabitants to cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities.

“The security of our people is non-negotiable. We will not allow criminal elements or drug traffickers to destabilize the peace we have worked hard to build,” Beckley Nangoh stated.

The Chief specifically cautioned youths against drug consumption, describing it as a threat to health, education, and the future of Monde. He called on parents, traditional leaders, and schools to intensify sensitization campaigns at the grassroots level.

Local authorities say the warning comes amid growing concerns over drug abuse in urban and rural areas of the Southwest Region.

Residents welcomed the message but appealed for increased patrols and rehabilitation programs for those already affected.

Chief Beckley Nangoh also created committees to spearhead development in the village and urged them to work hard for its progress.

“I urge you to work hard and develop our village. In case of any difficulty, inform me so we can seek solutions together,” Beckley Nangoh said.
