Missellele village gets new traditional councillors, quarter heads

The Chief of Missellele village in Tiko Subdivision HRH Chief, Mbollo Yves Patrice has called on the population of Missellele to collaborate with the newly installed traditional councillors and quarter heads in order to foster development in the village.

He made this clarion call on Friday November 18, 2022 at the courtyard of Missellele traditional council Hall in Tiko Subdivision, South West Region.


While presenting the 23 traditional council members and 13 quarter heads to the public, HRH Chief, Mbollo Yves congratulated the outgoing traditional councillors for their resilient and input to change the village. He added that they are not changing them because of bad work, but he opined change is imminent.


“You have an enormous task ahead of you, you have a task to reinforce cleanliness within the village, and make sure the population comes out during clean up campaigns without any discrimination” Chief, Mbollo Yves said.

He added that stray animals, respecting the demarcation of building permit, inventory of houses, charge to solve minor disputes, charge to assist administration, fight against those consuming drugs among others are some of the task assigned to the newly installed traditional councillors and quarter heads.

“Encourage the villagers without any discrimination to participate in the developing initiative within the village in collaboration of Missellele Development Association, MEDA, it is obligatory Association to belong in Missellele”,


“My number one fight will be against those consuming drugs and those selling. We need youths in Missellele that will be ministers and governors tomorrow. We don’t want to raise up thieves”. Chief, Mbollo Yves added.


He opined that the caliber of traditional council members and quarter heads selected are up to the task to deliver not only for the Chief and the administration but the entire population.


“Today, you’ll be made traditional councillors and quarter heads of Missellele, please open your ears well. You have not been mandated to sign a land document expect the Chief gives you express permission to sign as a witness or notable.” Chief Mbollo Yves stated.

Plans of action 2023


Quizzed on his plan of action next year, he revealed that he will inform his subjects for total transformation from makeshift houses to permanent structure and equally revamping of their Tongo cultural festival which has been dormant for over three years.


Speaking earlier the Chairman of Missellele Development Association, MEDA, Nyam Calvin reminded the newly installed traditional councillors and quarter heads to be devoted and work diligently in their task assigned to them.

He added that they should not be tribalistic in the discharge of their functions but they should be balance and void bias in their judgment.

Nyam stressed that change brings in dynamic and gives opportunity to move ahead. So, bringing new exco into the system is vital.


On his part, the representative of the Divisional officer for Tiko Subdivision Ebong Samuel Ngede congratulated the organizers of the event for mobilizing the villagers to witness the official installation of Missellele traditional councillor members and quarter heads.


He reminded the councillors and quarter heads that they are call upon as servants to their subjects and equal to act as liaison between the administration and their subjects.

“You know very well that a task of such magnitude requires you to be very responsible and avoid scandals. Avoid malpractices or inhuman act that will jeopardize your throne.” Ebong Samuel said.

He assured the population that their development desires are being taking into consideration and solutions are to be sort out both at the level of the council and government.
