Meveo Cultural and Development Assembly (MEVCUDA) whose main aim is to promote peace and sustainable development through Cultural and National Integration, has been a constant yearly cultural jamboree enjoyed and attended by thousands of people throughout the country and beyond.
From the year of ignition of the festival till now, this darling Organization (MEVCUDA), cherished by many had seen a frequent rendezvous of local groups, National and international guests taking part of the event.
The festival which knows no ethnic barrier started in 2014 by the Chief of lower Meveo village, HM Chief Ndiko Fonderson Henry.
In 2023 Miss MEVCUDA Takang Enanga Tina-Randa pioneered a business trip to Turkey. The following year, Christefs Ngowo Litumbe traveled to Dubai for a work and tourist trip.
Earlier this year, MEVCUDA sent a delegation to attend the International exhibition CHOCAF, where the General Coordinator received an outstanding award for his project.
At press time, Miss MEVCUDA 2024/2025 Nicole Mbanyi and Officer in charge of Communication Miss Yvonne Mojoko Wole are currently in an international beauty expo in Istanbul-Turkey.
From our point of view, tourism is definitely a game changer tourism is the game changer in job creation across the world. Globally the tourism sector provides 10% of the jobs while one tourist generates 60 jobs.
The Tourism industry is a major employer in African continent supporting millIons of job directly and indirectly, despite the few challenges affecting the growth and expansion of the sector.
MEVCUDA will in the long run boost the tourism sector in Cameroon, and will encourage more tourists in Cameroon and more investors for the socio-economic growth of the country.
It is interesting to note that some of our unemployment issues can find solutions in the tourism industry if we understand the value tourism has to offer and harness the strength of its various sectors.
In 2024 the event had in attendance the Governor of the South West region Mr. Benard Okalia Bilai, the SDO for Fako Mr. Engelbert Viang Mekala, the Indonesian Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Isman Pasha, traditional rulers in and out of the country among others. This signifies the impact of MEVCUDA on tourism.
MEVCUDA which is a non-political event falls in line with the region’s desire to promote tourism as seen in the previous 11th editions.
The dust of the 11th edition has been settled with hopes remaining high of what the 12th edition will bring and how MEVCUDA can be use to further promote tourism in South West Region and Cameroon in general.
