The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong says in the days ahead there will be systematic control of resident permit of all foreigners living in Meme Division.

He made this statement through a communique to all leaders of various Associations of foreigners in that area recently.

In one of the correspondences to the President of the Nigerian Union, Kumba, on April 12, 2024, a copy we stumbled on, Meme SDO stated:

"Given the important influx of Nigerian Citizens in Meme Division, I have the honour to let you know that there will be a systematic control of resident permit of all the foreigners living in my unit of command in the days ahead."

He called on the president of the Nigerian Union to sensitise all his compatriots on the said measure,

"Any person found without a valid resident permit will face the provisions of Law No 97/012 of 10th January 1997 to lay down the conditions to enter, stay and go out of Cameroon and its subsequent text of regulation." The communique stated.

Such a control of residence permit is not a novelty in Meme division, as regular exercises in the past had helped many foreigners to regularise their stay in the county.

Estimation holds majority of the foreigners living in kumba in particular and Meme division as a whole are from Nigeria.

This is buttressed by the fact of border proximity and a long-standing history of trade in the area.
