The traditional ruler of Maumu, Chief Embola Mulobe Charles, has reorganised basic components of the village's management.

In a November 21 appointment, three boards of the village were reviewed and strengthened, notably: Land Management and Development Board; Water Management Board and Hygiene and Sanitation Board

Foster Liongo was appointed as chair of a ten-member Land Management and Development Board whose secretary is Jokeh Williams.

Mbua Maka was named chair of the Water Management Board with Andong Emmanuel as Secretary, while Ngale Nwanje is chair of the Hygiene and Sanitation Board, whose secretary is Eric Achuo.

Going by the names of the appointed individuals, it appears to be a mix of the living ethnicities that make up the Maumu community.

This move accompanies earlier actions in reorganising the village structures since Chief Embola was put on the royal stool as recognised by the Perfectoral Order number 45/AP/G37/C83/1AP. Seen in the appointment and installation of the traditional council on May 31, 2025.

The third class chiefdom of Maumu is mapped in the outskirts of Buea along the National road number 8 sharing borders with the Muyuka subdivision. It remains a home to many Cameroonians from various areas.

Its fast-growing population necessitates renewed commitment to its management and development.

Moreover, the security challenges in the area prompted by the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West remain a significant challenge to its development prospects.

Observers hope that this move will create solutions and improve the livelihood of the population.
