Mamfe: Mayor Tabenchong accords dad befitting burial

The Mayor of Mamfe Council, Robertson Tabenchong Ashu, has accorded a befitting burial to his late father, Emmanuel Mbella Ashu who quit the stage at 76.


The mortal remains were laid to rest over the weekend in his native village, Eshobi where Massive crowd joined Mayor Tabenchong Ashu to bid farewell and pay their last respect to the fallen hero. 


The journey to eternity of the deceased started on Thursday, February 20, with a requiem mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral, Mamfe, officiated by the Bishop of Mamfe, His Lordship Aloysius Abangalo Fondong. 


A football match in honour of the deceased was held, followed by a requiem at the Mamfe grandstand before a wake keep without the corpse. 


After the confining on Friday morning at the Mamfe District Hospital mortuary, the corpse of Pa Emmanuel Mbella Ashu was taken to Eshobi village where it was received by the Ekpe and laid in state at the family compound. 


The mortal remains were later ferried to the Government School field and a requiem mass organised. 


He leaves behind a multitude of family members, friends and other acquaintances to mourn him.


According the family, Pa Emmanuel Mbella Ashu as a Christian, fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith as in II Timothy 4:7 of the Holy Bible.
