The Paramount Chief of Limbe, HM John Elufa Manga Williams on Wednesday, March 22 Mokunda at the palace of the Paramount Chief of Buea, handed food items to dozens of families affected by the recent devastating flash floods which caused human and material damage in Buea South West regional of Cameroon.
The items donated through the Paramount Chief of Buea HM Dr. Robert Esuka Endeley to the flood victims consist of 10 bags of rice and 5 bags of sugar to assist them at this trying moment.
Speaking during the event, the Paramount Chief of Limbe HM John Elufa Manga Williams conveyed his deepest sympathy to His Majesty and the people of Buea for the human and material losses suffered.
“We are particularly affected by the demise of the two young people, and hereby express our sincere and heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families. We also convey our encouragement to families whose property and homes were destroyed in the flood”,
“The videos of this disaster convey quite vividly the horror and terror many families experienced as the powerful, murky waters raced down the streets of Buea, supposedly from the mountain slopes.” HM Manga Williams said.
He added that they could not remain indifferent after hearing of the sad incident of the floor in Buea that claimed 2 lives. So, he thought it wise for him and his team to assist the victims with some food items.

On his part, the Paramount Chief of Buea HM Dr. Robert Esuka Endeley appreciated the Paramount Chief of Limbe and his delegation for coming to their assistance.
Speaking to the press, HM Dr. Robert Esuka said, as traditional rulers they understand the history of Buea so they are taking this incident as a sign of warning. He added that he has spoken with is ‘medicine men’ in the day ahead they will have a ritual ceremony to prevent future negative things from happening in Buea.
He lamented that people lost homes some are now vulnerable, students cannot study for final exams. While urging other to emulate such goodwill gesture, Dr. Robert Esuka urged others to assist the flood victims.

“For those who have lived in Buea will understand the mountain erupted in 1959 went to Ekona, 1982 went to Bowango, 2000 and 2009 went to Bakingili. This is 23 years after we are expecting another eruption not far from now, so this is just a sign for us to be careful.” HM Dr. Robert Esuka said.
