Limbe Paramount Chief elect, donates benches to schools in Chiefdom

The Paramount Chief elect of Limbe, HRH Elufa John Manga Williams has donated some 40 benches to five primary schools in Limbe.


The benches were handed to the Head Teachers of the beneficiary schools due a brief ceremony at the chamber of commerce Down Beach, Wednesday February 23, 2022.

Speaking during the event the representative of the Divisional Officer for Limbe I, the Assistant Divisional Officer Mbi Edwin, maintained that the State can not do it all by itself, he appreciated the Chief Elufa John Manga for the gesture.

“Little is much when given wholeheartedly”, he said, urging the Head Teachers and pupils to make judicious use of the donation.


HRH Elufa John Manga observed that “We are in very difficult times that if schoolchildren are not comfortable, they will take up another option than going to school. We don’t want them to have a reason not to attend school”, he said.

Holding that the initiative was embarked upon when the Chiefdom realised that in some schools, pupils sit on blocks to attend lesson for lack of benches. Since that time, the Chiefdom has taken the responsibility to contribute it part in making classrooms comfortable for proper learning.


The Paramount ruler hoped more will be done in the days ahead as the means becomes available. The primary schools which benefited the gesture included GS Down Beach Group I, Ecole publique Down Beach, Anglo Arabic primary school, GS South East community and GS Bussumbu.

Chief John Manga nonetheless affirmed he saw the schools were in need and decided to be of help, for his actions were not political but geared towards assisting schoolchildren wherever they may be found.


On her part, the representative of the Divisional Delegate of Basic Education for Fako, Tabali Roseline applauded Elufa John Manga for quickly attaining to the needs of the schoolchildren.

She recalled the book donation exercise which the Chief engaged last year and other similar activities carried out to ameliorate the learning conditions of pupils especially in public schools.


“These things don’t go for nothing; it’s a seed you are planting to harvest in future”, she assured. The Head Teachers and pupils present wholeheartedly received the Paramount ruler elect of Limbe Elufa’s gift, saying it is timely.
