Inhabitants of Mokaba Farms in Limbe I Subdivision, Fako Division, have been warned that heavy fine of FCFA 100, 000 will be levied on persons with bad septic tank.
This was one of the outcome of the General Assembly Meeting, GAM, on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Mokaba Farms chaired by the quarter head, Teke George Bise.
The GAM meet was centered on four main areas namely; security living together, electricity and hygiene and sanitation.
“In the year 2023/ 2024 we destroyed about 24 toilets, this year, we all agreed that anyone found with bad septic tank will pay a fine of FCFA 100, 000” The quarter head said.
While stressing that they all agreed that if the defaulter failed to pay the FCFA 100, 000 he or she will be reported to the Administration.
He added that, they realized that when there’s a slide rain fall, individuals open their septic tank to empty it, causing pollution hazard.
In the domain of electricity, Teke George appreciated the Limbe I council, Mbama hills boys, Garden Boys and Girls Association for their support to light up the street but, pleaded with goodwill individuals from home and abroad to assist them.
“There are some poles in our area that don’t have light. So, we’re planning this year 2025 that all have solar light as we’re witnessing frequent power cut by ENEO” the quarter head stated.
He equally urged bars and restaurants owners in his quarter to build toilets for their customers to offload their waste product after consuming food or drinks,
On his part, the Chairman of the traditional Council, Sammie Njoh Ndeley appreciated the turnout of the inhabitants during the General Assembly Meeting and expressed happiness for the frank deliberation
He is optimistic that from the meeting businessmen and landlord will take a different approach to keep the quarter clean now.
“One of the challenges we have is that people are not coming to meetings, and equally at 49 steps people do funny things when the rain is falling. So, I urged them to desist from such activities.
The Secretary General and Chairman of the Paramount Chief of Limbe, Peter Martins and Mafany Carrl all urged the inhabitants to be united and foster development in their quarter.
While encouraging them to massively participate in the upcoming Cultural Festival activities organized by the Royal Chiefdom of Limbe billed for March 2025.
Dr. Ula Abunaw of Rapha Pharmacy in Mokeba Farm pledged to offer equipment to enable the youths in the quarter to carry on hygiene and sanitation in the quarter which the quarter council will pass and collect at her pharmacy.
