Limbe I: Teenager cheats death for alleged phone theft

A teenager, whose name has not been disclosed, was brutally beaten to near death by a mob in Mabeta New Layout, Limbe I Subdivision, Fako Division, South West Region, Cameroon, on Friday, March 21, 2025. 

According to eyewitnesses, the teenager was part of a gang that terrorized locals, stealing phones at gunpoint. 

One victim reported that her two iPhones 11 Pro Max were stolen from her home around 3 am on Wednesday. 

“I usually leave my door unlocked for my husband, a security guard, who comes home late," she said. "I slept deeply due to the rain, and when I woke up at 4:30 am, my phones were gone." 

The incident sparked an investigation, leading to the teenager's apprehension. However, before authorities could intervene, the mob had already inflicted fatal injuries. 

At press time, the teenager was taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing to track down his accomplices.
