As the new academic year approaches in Cameroon, the Mayor of Limbe I Council, Mbwaye Eposi Florence, and her councillors on Friday, August 29, donated back-to-school items to schoolchildren in Quarter 21, Bonadikombo Mile 4, Limbe as part of the council's initiative to promote education in Limbe I Subdivision.
The event, now in its fourth edition, is organised annually by the Landlords, Savon, and Women's meetings. During the ceremony, Mayor Mbwaye commended the initiative and encouraged other quarters to emulate.
She expressed her joy at seeing parents accompany their children to receive the school items, "This quarter is well-organised, and you people are doing a great job. I urge you to continue with the same spirit."
The Mayor also thanked the quarter for their support in planting a borehole and promised to construct a bridge due to their cooperation with the Limbe I Council.
The Mayor handed over didactic materials comprises of cartoons of books, pens among others to the schoolchildren and FCFA 100,000 to the quarter.
While making the donation, she urged the residents to massively vote for the CPDM in the upcoming presidential election on October 12, so she can continue to develop Bonadikombo Mile 4 and Limbe I municipality.
Obadiah Takan, one of the organisers, expressed delight that the Limbe I Mayor presided over the event, which reached over 200 children, including internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Giselle Arianne, president of Quarter 21 Bonadikombo Mile 4, thanked the Limbe I Council for the additional support and promised 100% vote for CPDM in the upcoming presidential election.
The beneficiaries appreciated the Limbe I Council's didactic material assistance, which will ease their school resumption despite the financial difficulties their parents face.
