Limbe I Councillors approve 2024 accounts, emerge top Council in SW with 100% project execution

The Limbe I councillors convened on Thursday, March 27, 2025, and approved the administrative, management, and stores account for the 2024 financial year.
This approval came during the first ordinary session dedicated to examining the council's accounts.
Mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence presented the council's accounts, revealing that they collected FCFA 824 million but spent only FCFA 735 million on developing the Limbe I municipality, which has a budget of FCFA 900 million.
The council achieved impressive revenue collection, with recurrent revenue standing at FCFA 637,587,653 and actual collection reaching FCFA 549,539,141, representing 86% of the target. This revenue came from subsidies, council taxes, and other indirect taxes.
Investment revenue also exceeded expectations, reaching FCFA 262,412,347, with actual income of FCFA 275,257,686, representing 105% of the target.
In terms of expenditure, the council spent FCFA 394,006,728 on recurrent expenses, representing 75% of the allocated budget. Investment expenditure reached FCFA 338,880,585, representing 91% of the allocated budget.
The council successfully executed 13 projects under the Public Investment budget, with 7 projects valued below FCFA 5 million and 6 projects valued above FCFA 5 million. Notably, one road fund project and one FEICOM project were completed at 100%.
Mayor Mbwaye Eposi emphasized the council's commitment to development and service delivery despite financial challenges.
She highlighted initiatives such as providing 1,066 free birth certificates to school children and organizing mass wedding celebrations.
The South West Regional Delegate for Economic Planning and Regional Development, Chief Dr. Yenai Asaah Dominic congratulated the Limbe I Council on its professionalism in financial management and project execution.
He announced an envelope of FCFA 50 million to be awarded to the council by the Minister of Economic Planning and Regional Development, Alamin Osuman Mey.
