Limbe I Council doles out farming tools to CIGs, co-operative farmers

The Limbe I council through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has doled out farming tools worth FCFA 30 million to boost the farming output of her municipality.

The donation exercise which took place at the Conference Chambers of the Limbe I council on Friday, August 27, 2021 brought together over 200 farmers who benefited the grant from the ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through Limbe I council.


Speaking to the farmers, the Mayor of Limbe I Council, Mbwaye Eposi Florence stressed on the importance of agriculture. She said the Head of State himself encourages the youths to engage into farming which will serve as earner of meals to them.


Mbwaye Eposi explained that, the agricultural tools which consist of wheel barrow, spraying cans, helmets, cutlasses, seedlings, fer- tilizers, among others is through the public investment budget PIB, sent by the ministry of agriculture and rural development, MINAD- ER. She expressed gratitude to the state, as it been awhile they stretched out farming tools to farmers in her municipality. The mayor challenged the farmers to use the items for the purpose it was given.

She encouraged them to produce good output for agricultural show coming up in December 2021 in her municipality. Quizzed on the criteria the farmers were selected, Mayor Mbwaye said farmers’ files were received through the subdivisional delegation of agriculture and rural develop- ment and their farms were inspected to ensure they fit for the grant.


On her part, the Subdivisional Delegate for Agriculture and Rural Development, Towo Djapen Claire, urged the farmers to work harder than what they were doing in the past. She

regretted that farmers, cannot go the farm on Mondays which has reduced the output of commodity in the market.


Speaking to the press one of the farmers of CEPROL, CIG Ahone Cecilia expressed joy and appreci- ation for the items she received from Limbe I council. She prom- ised that the things will go a long way to assist her to boost her farm work as she is into pig farming, planting of maize, poultry, among others.
