Limbe I Council Councillors approve FCFA 1.6 billion for the 2026

Limbe I councillors sitting on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the council deliberating chamber at Bota, approved an impressive budget of FCFA 1.6 billion for 2026 financial year. This budget experience increase of FCFA 680 million as compared last year.
The Councillors endorsed this amount during the second ordinary session dedicated to examine, deliberate and adopt the draft budget for 2026 fiscal year.
Estimated Budget presentation for 2026 fiscal year
Presenting the budget Mayor Mbwaye Eposi says the Council will run on an estimated budget of FCFA 1.660.000.000. Revenue stands at 522,913,132 Frs, Recurrent Revenue 1,137,086,868Frs and Investment Revenue 1,660,000,000 Frs.
Mayor Mbwaye Eposi attributed the huge increase of FCFA 680 million to PROLOG projects financed by World Bankto the tune of FCFA 660 million. While, FCFA 340 million is for Public Investment Budget (PIB) projects.
She revealed that 2026 financial year will be dedicated for one quarter one project. Among 71 quarters in Limbe I Municipality an estimated amount of FCFA 1 billion will be spent for development.
Projects realized in 2025
Presenting her 2025 projects realised by Limbe I Council, Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said the Council had six projects, three (3) below five million CFA francs and three (3) above five (5) million CFA francs: Construction of Low Cost Houses in Limbe I municipality (Phase 2), rehabilitation of farm to market road from Dubai city (0.6 km) to lower Bossumbu, construction of a block of two classrooms at EMF Mile 4 Bonadikombo among others.
Projects to focus on 2026
Meanwhile, she cited some projects the council will embark on in 2026 PIB: Rehabilitation of a borehole, supply of nursery chairs and tables, payment for land for the rehabilitation of the pharmacy at CMA Down Beach, construction of a nursery school block at GNS Busumbu, rehabilitation of a nursery school block at GPNS Mile I, construction of three solar boreholes with storage tanks at Low Cost Building, construction of a health center at Mabeta among others.
“The above budget can be realised through hard work, assiduity and commitment. So I kindly urge all the staff to keep up the team spirit to enable us attain our developmental objectives.” Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said.
She said the vision of the Limbe I Council for the 2026 fiscal year is to meticulously adhere to its plan of action inconformity with strict implementation of the Communal Development Plan (CDP) which will usher in a new management strategy marked by transparency, accountability, citizen participation and good governance.
“To my councilors, I sincerely appreciate your collaboration for the past five years and I pray we continue to fastening our bond”,
“We all know this is our last mandate so let us collectively stand as one person and put all hands on deck so we attain maximum success during the municipal elections slated for 2026.” Mayor Mbwaye Eposi said.
She called for maximum collaboration from the Limbe I populace “Our vision and objective is mainly to seek for the common good and wellbeing of all its in habitants thus enhancing sustainable grassroots development.” Mayor Mbwaye Eposi added.
In his intervention, the representative of supervisory authority of councils in Fako Division, Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Awa Dean applauded Mayor Mbwaye Eposi and her team for the relentlessly effort to better the living condition of the people of Limbe I municipality.
Enter awards bagged by Limbe I Council in 2025
It should be noted that Limbe I Council came first in the South West Region in execution of PIB projects in 2025, the Council also emerged first in the region in My Name Campaign organised by UNISCE with collaboration with other partners.
The Council also came first the region during the six edition of FEICOM National award for local councils development best practices in 2025. The award was presented to the Mayor during the session and also female personality of the year award issued by Victoria International Media Merit award (VIIMMA) 2025.
Limbe I Council established 353 birthday certificates for children, record no dead certificate, organised free marriage for over 100 couples. Mayor Mbwaye Eposi says next year the Council will fully operate digitalise civil status registry.
