Limbe Boys, Girls Association recognises senior citizens

Limbe Boys And Girls Association, LIBGA, on Friday February 28, 2025 honoured Senior Citizens with an award, cash prize and other gadgets. The ceremony was held at the historic Limbe Botanic Gardens. 


The event was placed under the Distinguished patronage of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako dubbed, "Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future". This ceremony is part of LIBGA's community outreach program. 


According to the president of Limbe Boys and Girls Association, Ngwana Gerald the aim is to celebrates the remarkable contributions of elderly citizens to Limbe’s development. 


“In effect, the 25 Senior Citizens were recognized for their individual contributions to the socio, economic, political and welfare of the City of Limbe”,


“In a dynamic, globally connected association founded by Limbe Boys And Girls living both locally and abroad, with an average membership age of 35 years.” Ngwana Gerald explained. 


The Association is registered with the competent territorial administration, LIBGA has a proven track record of impactful community service initiatives, including;


Before now, the Association has been providing borehole to underserved communities. Visiting and supporting orphanages and underprivileged children’s education. 


Donating essential items to health facilities around our community. Organizing events that promote social welfare, unity, and community development.”


“LIBGA's commitment to empowering communities and fostering intergenerational solidarity drives us to organize meaningful events like the Limbe Senior Citizens Recognition Ceremony," said Gerald Ngwana. 


He urged Limbe inhabitants to advantage of the opportunities before them to learn, innovate, and collaborate.


“Let us work together to transform Limbe into a hub of industrial development, technological innovation, and cultural excellence.” Ngwana Gerald said.


In his intervention, the president of the Board of Directors LUCCCUL, Esombe Lingate Samuel said he questioned himself what pushed the organising committee to select him as a community developer “I appreciate the organising committee to come up with name for what, I have done in this community” Esombe Lingate added. 


On his part, Dr. Kinge Thompson Njie retired Director of Limbe I Regional Hospital and owner of Swiss Care medical service clinic said he he was taken aback when he was told he is one of the laureates. “I didn’t know people were watching while, I working at Regional Hospital Mile I as Director.” He added. 


Meanwhile Kumge Henry, journalist working with CRTV Mount Cameroon FM and Ocean City Radio Limbe said when people are not informed, things go wrongly. “The services journalists are doing, they can’t be paid by God.”


He dedicated his award to journalists and especially to his Boss Nkwelle George of CRTV Mount Cameroon FM.
