Kigali: Engaging Young Africans in Governance and leadership holds summit to advocate for young African leadership

The summit which was held in Kigali, Rwanda recently brought young African leaders with sole aim to advocate for young African in leadership.


Speaking in an exclusive interview with KNews, the president of Engaging Young Africans in Governance and Leadership in Africa, Nyukechen Henry Tambe said his institution has partnered with different young African leaders to tour, promote and advocate for young Africans in leadership and governance in Africa and Cameroon in particular.


He added that the initiative is currently operating in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Cameroon among others.


“We’re also in support of mid age or adulthood who are responsible and have the competence to rule. We have seen that in other African countries like Senegal, Kenya, Burkina Faso among others. It can happen everywhere in Africa.” Nyukechen Henry said.


He added that one of their focus is to advocate young leadership and portray the young aspirants of any election in African.


“My organization which is Engaging Young Africans in Governance and leadership, EYAGLA, we move from one country to another to sensitize and mobilize young people in different countries to stand in for different levels of elections being local election or presidential election.” Nyukechen Henry explained.


He is optimistic that with the coming of October presidential election in Cameroon there will be wing of change in Cameroon that is why he and his team are busy pushing the agenda for a young Cameroonian to be in power.


Brief profile of  Nyukechen Henry Tambe


Nyukechen Henry Tambe hails from Manyu Division, Tali 2 village but was born and raised in Buea-Cameroon and a PhD Research Fellow. 


Based in Buea have understood the territory of politics in Africa and Cameroon in particular. He works indirectly with different ministries and a strong partner of the Cameroon National Youth Council an independent youth structure in Cameroon.


He is the Founder and president of Engaging Young Africans in Leadership and Governance in Africa (EYAGLA) since 2021-till date and President and Founder of Youth Empowerment Actors (YEA) Since 2014-till date.
