International Women Day’s 2025: Limbe City Council women celebrates in pomp

Limbe City Council women joined their peers in Limbe I Sub division in Fako, South West Region of Cameroon to celebrate the International Women’s Day on Saturday March 8, 2025 at Limbe Community Field.
LCC women stood tall during the celebration of the 40th edition of the International Women Day Celebration tagged; For all Women and Girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.
In her intervention the divisional delegate of Women’s Empowerment and the Family for Fako, Barrister, Mpey Nzo-Nguty cautioned the women against competing with men in their quest to secure their rights and privileges.
“Gender equality is very important for peace and development in every nation, the theme of the celebration speaks of a shared responsibility to create a world where no woman is left behind.” Barrister, Mpey Nzo-Nguty said.
She said the commemoration provides women with tools to live their dreams and presses for fairer policies and practices that support women everywhere.
On her part, the Mayor for Limbe I Council, Mbwaye Eposi Florence said the occasion served as a platform to celebrate women who have excelled
in their various fields.
She emphasised on the values of love, respect and care, holding that every woman has to thrive in a world that recognises their rights and gender.
Mayor Mbwaye echoed challenges still faced by women across the globe, saying at least 2.7 billion women remain legally restricted from same job opportunities as men, and continue to face violence and discrimination.
Fako SDO, Engelbert Viang Mekala said women deserve respect from the state, community and family. He observed that investing in women is highly beneficial to the entire society.
While regretting challenges which still plague women in Cameroon, notably out-of-school girls, early marriages, violence and rape, Viang challenged the entire society to work for the improvement of women’s cause.
“I will not grant any form of violence or mistreatment of women...you can count on me”, he assured.
The event was spiced by displays of songs and dance, a colourful march pass, award of prizes and visit to exhibition stands

In front of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Able City Mayor Paul Efome L.M Ngale amongst other important dignitaries, the LCC beauties illuminated the community field.
They matched in an overwhelming majority and attracted admiration for their colourful outfits and marching prowess.
Apart from that, our Ballet ladies; Champions of the 2025 competition, displayed the best performance at the event with the SDO and Wife, the City Mayor amongst others spraying them with support.
It was even a better spectacle back in the LCC Courtyard where the City Mayor organized a huge reception in honour of our ladies. Joining the celebration was the SDO for Fako Viang Mekala and wife
Limbe City Mayor, Paul Efome L.M Ngale used the occasion to congratulate the ladies for bringing honour to the Limbe City Council.
He appreciated their resilience and active role in making the LCC great in its missions towards the municipality. He ended by promising the LCC woman an even greater celebration next year.
