Cameroon become the first African country to ever defeat Brazil at a World Cup.
Vincent Aboubakar’s goal made history for him and the country. But it wasn’t enough to take the indomitable lions through to the next round.
It should be noted that Cameroon are the only African senior team to beat Brazil twice.
They beat Brazil 1-0 at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup and 1-0 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
No other African senior team have defeated Brazil's senior team.
“Congrats to vincent aboubackar for scoring the winning goal for cameroon against brazil (and sorry about the red card for stripping down to celebrate)” ian bremmer twitted.
Brazil and Switzerland take the last two places in the Round of 16.
The Swiss beat Serbia by the odd goal in five while Cameroon bow out of the tournament with their heads held high after victory over the record champions. This group stage has had it all.
