"Human Nature" Vol.1

I was reading the Facebook page of a journalist yesterday and discovered she had reported the case of a missing boy. She went to the extent of brandishing his picture on Facebook to ease identification but made a mistake on the location where the guy is believed by many to have been kidnapped.

She said the boy went to his village, Idiabato, in the Manyu division. Unfortunately for the fine journalist, Idiabato doesn't exist in Manyu but in the Ndian division.

This little error attracted criticisms from many of her purported fans who neglected the rest of her report and concentrated on the mistake, which may not really be a preventing factor in the identification of the missing lad.

Though not her fan, permit me to say this is the only female journalist that has been outstanding in her reports throughout this period of crisis. Unarguably, her accurate and regular report has increased her followers.

After understanding her strength and the recent criticisms on her page vis-a-vis her post, I began to ask myself what could really have attracted the wanton criticisms and insults to a point where some people started referencing their secondary school days with her.

They commented that she has always claimed to know more than everyone; that's why she could make silly mistakes concerning the administrative organisation of Cameroon. Wait a minute! Could you believe all these criticisms and even more were born from the simple mistake she posited yesterday? No, I can't be sure of that.

This is the answer I got. There are some people who have nursed hatred for her, maybe because they think she is more than them or she gains more acclamations than them. What she is doing may either, without her intention, be stepping on their toes, or she is doing her job perfectly well.

This category of people will stop at nothing in trying to pull her down wheneverthey get an opportunity to do so, especially when a mistake is committed by her or when they discover she is down at a particular moment. You will hear them say she claims to know too much; that's why she has fallen, or she claims to be the best.

You should note that the above category of people will never acclaim her for doing the right thing; they only come out from their hole when she mistakenly does the wrong one. This disturbing issue pushed me to ask so many "whys", and the answer was just beside my bed. It's "Human Nature".

I have come to realise that in this life battle, no matter how good you can be in what you do, there are people who will never acclaim you but be sure to see their ugly hands pointing at you whenever you make an error, but this should never stop you from forging ahead because you can't avoid it. It's just human nature.
