HRM Njie Mbonde bans farming on burial days in Membea Bokwoango village

The Traditional Ruler of Membea Bokwoango, H.M. Njie Mbonde Albert, Knight of the Cameroon Order of Merit, has signed Royal Act No. 023/2026/HRM prohibiting all farming activities on burial days across the village.
The Act, dated 15/05/2026, cites the 1977 and 2013 Chiefdoms Decrees, the Chiefdom’s 1999 Constitution, and native customs as its basis.
Article 1 of the Act states that “farming activities are strictly prohibited on a burial day across the village,” while Article 2 charges Quarter Heads with strict implementation of the measure.
According to the Chiefdom, the move is aimed at upholding respect for the dead and “reinventing the culture of servant leadership” within the community.
H.M. Njie Mbonde Albert, in article 2 of the communique has introduced a new dress code “Sanja” and “Kabba” are now instituted as the official attire for indigenes during cultural events in the chiefdom
HRM Njie Monde recommends that non-indigenes wear any traditional wear.
The Chiefdom says the move is grounded in Decree No. 77/245, the Membea Bokwoango Constitution of 1999, and native customs, as part of efforts to “reinvent the culture of servant leadership.”
