Mayhem in Limbe puts population in shock

Limbe is still reeling in shock following a series of tragic events last week. Many are left wondering why these incidents unfolded in such a short span. 

Relative Conspires to Kill Boss

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, Limbe residents woke up to images circulating on social media of a gruesome murder. Dinga Protus, owner of a quarry company in Limbe, was killed and buried by teenagers masterminded by his relative, Abel George. 

The victim was lured to his plot in Kie village New Layout under false pretenses, where he was attacked and buried in a pre-dug grave. 

Investigation and Arrests

The Limbe Central Police Station launched an investigation, and the suspects were apprehended after a car accident in Douala. Abel George allegedly planned the murder to gain access to Protus's land.

Corpse Discovered at Coconut Island

Barely 24 hours later, another corpse was found at Coconut Island, sparking speculation about the cause of death. Administrative officers were contacted, and the body was taken to the cemetery for burial. 

Man Kills Wife Over Alleged Infidelity

In a separate incident on Saturday, May 10, 2025, a man butchered his wife, Vanella Ingweri, over alleged infidelity in Mile 4, Limbe. 

The husband, who had traveled abroad and received news of his wife's alleged infidelity, became furious and attacked her. A mob later tortured the husband, and both bodies were taken to the mortuary.
